When looking back at our preliminary task, i feel as though we have progressed strongly and learnt many new techniques in the process and have more of an insight on how to produce a more successful piece of media. I feel as though i have progressed my camera work, editing ability and my knowledge of using technologies altogether. I think this shows through our work as the improvement from the preliminary task is huge.
Whilst making our preliminary task, it was a chance for us to experiment, make mistakes and learn from these mistakes. This gave us the foundation of what we needed to do and how to use the software and equipment we would need to use for our final project.
The preliminary task is not as adventurous or as experimental as it could have been whereas, in our main task i feel as though we have created a more exciting piece which we put more effort and time into the main task.
Camera use: Within our preliminary task we were instructed to the camera angles 180 degree rule, match on action and shot/reverse shot. This allowed me to have a better understanding as to how to shoot these angles correctly and why they are used in media products.
However, when it came to filming our final project, we decided to use more of a variety of camera angles and use ones that were suited to our genre of 'horror'. This helped to develop my camera skills. To find the camera angles that were often in 'horror' based films i watched horror clips to see. Many were 'distorted' and uncomfortable to watch, provoking the right atmosphere.
I have increased my editing skills from our preliminary task as when we made our preliminary task we uploaded our footage and added a title to it and also added some simple effects, but we did not spend too much time editing our preliminary task on Premier pro elements 7.0.
Whereas, when it cam to editing our main task on Premier pro elements 7.0 we used many new things to create the clip that we wanted and to add effects to create the 'horror' themed footage we hoped for. I feel as though i have progressed from the preliminary task to the main task in terms of editing.
The techniques that i have learned from both of these tasks may help me in the future and have helped me to have a better understanding of how to cope with the difficulties of technology and how to overcome this.
